Church Support

NBA Woodhaven is proud to be part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). We depend on the support we receive from the Disciples Mission Fund and directly from churches and Christian Women's Fellowship groups around the country in order to fulfill our mission.

NBA Woodhaven offers several opportunities to share our ministry with your church family. They include:

Pulpit Supply: We offer free pulpit supply within the Mid-America Region and other nearby churches. An NBA Woodhaven representative will fill your pulpit and preach a sermon connecting the inspirational ministry of NBA Woodhaven with scripture and making a meaningful association to your congregation’s members’ lives. We offer this service because of the important role the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) plays in the mission of NBA Woodhaven. The pulpit supply is most often provided by our Church Relations Coordinator, a retired minister.

Moment for Mission: We can also share the good news from NBA Woodhaven in the form of a Moment for Mission. This short (less than 5 minute) presentation during your worship service is designed to provide an update about NBA Woodhaven and to share our appreciation of the support we receive from the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). As a recipient of Disciples Mission Fund dollars, our Moment for Mission is a wonderful illustration of how the tithes and offerings made within local congregations and through special day offerings are furthering the church’s ministry to people in need.

CWF/DWF Presentation: The compassionate support of Christian Women’s Fellowship and Disciples Women’s groups are important to the mission of NBA Woodhaven. Our presentation at one of your group’s regular meetings includes a short video about NBA Woodhaven, literature about our different programs, an update about our Campbell’s Soup collection program and a discussion about the past, present and future of services to people with developmental disabilities within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). When possible, an NBA Woodhaven representative will travel to attend the meeting to lead the discussion and personally thank your group for its past support and explain how it has benefited NBA Woodhaven.

Sunday School Lesson: NBA Woodhaven’s CWF Presentation can be modified to serve as a Sunday School Lesson for classes from middle school age to adult.

Tours and Mission Trips: NBA Woodhaven is a great place to visit for a tour or one-day Mission Trip. We love to share our story with interested individuals and those we serve love to open their homes to guests. There are always maintenance needs that groups from middle school age to adults can perform to make life better for the men and women served by NBA Woodhaven. Columbia, Missouri, is a wonderful town to visit, featuring great restaurants, shopping and the University of Missouri-Columbia. Although we no longer have accommodations for groups staying overnight, our doors are always open to friends and supporters.
